DSPS Proctored Testing Center

The Proctored Testing Center provides a distraction-reduced environment where students can utilize their testing accommodations that have been provided to them by a DSPS counselor.

How to Use the Proctored Testing Center

If this is your first time requesting services through DSPS, you will need to:

  1. Complete the intake process.
  2. Submit a request for an Accommodation Letter.
  3. Meet with your instructor to talk about the accommodations .
  4. Set up your test date and time by calling (916) 558-2545, or stop by the DSPS office in Student Services Building, STS 139:
    1. Three business days in advance for most exams or quizzes.
    2. Five business days in advance if you need a scribe, computer or private room.
    3. Seven business days in advance for a test in an alternate format.

If You Need Assistive Technology Support

  1. Get accommodations in advance from your DSPS counselor for:
    • Alt Media
    • Hardware
    • Software
  2. Complete computer training at the High-Tech Center.
  3. Schedule computer time when you schedule your test.

Make Your Test a Success

  • Arrive early to allow for unexpected delays.
  • Check-in at Student Center Building, STS-139 and let the staff member know you have a testing appointment.
  • Show a picture ID to the proctor at exam time (an ID is required for the testing to occur).
  • Earplugs or hearing protection are recommended.
  • Enter and leave quietly; other students are testing.
  • Notify the proctor if you need a break:
    • You will be required to leave testing materials and personal items in the proctoring area.
    • Your break will be timed and test time will be extended accordingly.
  • You can bring water into the testing center to stay hydrated, No food or drink unless you have a DSPS Counselor-approved accommodation. The accommodation for food and drink (other than water) is allowed in a designated area outside the testing room.

Cancellations

  • Cancellations are the responsibility of the student and must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the test.
  • Materials from canceled tests will be returned directly to the instructor.
  • Students are responsible for rescheduling their test with instructor approval.
