Tutoring and Learning Center
The Tutoring and Learning Center (formerly the Learning Skills & Tutoring Center) is a free resource that offers academic support to students enrolled in a particular SCC class. Students can meet with a tutor to talk about their assignment, exam, study skills, or anything else related to class.
We offer:
- 25- and 55-minute sessions
- One-on-one, small group, and weekly large group sessions
- On-campus and online sessions
- Workshops and study skills sheets
- Online tutoring support

Drop-In Tutoring
Want more time with a tutor? Tutors are available on a drop-in basis when they do not have scheduled appointments.
Check Available Drop-In Tutoring Using Penji on the Web
- Pick a class, pick a tutor, check in now, and respond with what you would like to discuss with a tutor.
- Upon check-in, you will be placed on the waitlist.
- Tutors are notified when a student has checked in to a drop-in room, and will meet with you as soon as possible.
- Check your school Gmail or the Penji app for details on our drop-in session

More about Penji
The Tutoring and Learning Center uses Penji to schedule appointments and organize tutoring. Penji is available as an app or on the web. Sign up using your wID@apps.losrios.edu email address, and you will be prompted to sign in using your student ID and password. Penji calls the many tutoring options at SCC “communities”. The name of our community is SCC|LRC Tutoring - TLC.

Looking for a campus job? Did well in a class last semester? Helped out some classmates understand class content? If so, apply to be a peer tutor! Tutors are paid the current minimum wage.

We ask students to fill out our intake form each semester they are using tutoring services.
Tutoring and Learning Center Subjects
Subjects and classes available for tutoring change each semester and are dependent on tutor applications.
Tutoring and Learning Center Staff
Most TLC tutors are students who have completed the class they are tutoring for with a grade of A or B, and have completed a tutor education course. Some tutors are Master Tutors and Instructional Assistant staff.
