Digital Universal Transit Pass

The Universal Transit Pass (UTP) allows eligible students to use Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) bus and light rail services at a lower price. All eligible students are charged the UTP fee, regardless of whether or not they use the pass.

Here's how to get and use the UTP:

Pay the UTP Fee

Pay the UTP fee in eServices.

  • Students who pay the Summer 2026 UTP fee on or before May 26, 2026, will receive their transit pass in Transit Connect by the end of May.
  • Students who pay the Summer 2026 UTP fee on or after May 27, 2026, will receive their transit pass in Transit Connect within five (5) business days of payment.

Get The Transit Connect Mobile App

Download Transit Connect in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store by searching for "Transit Connect."

Access the UTP in Transit Connect

  1. After you've downloaded the app, create an account using your preferred email address on file with Los Rios. If you use a different email address, your pass may not be delivered correctly.
  2. Look for an email to your preferred email address from SacRT (sent from noreply@justride.com) to let you know your pass is ready. If you do not already have a Transit Connect account that uses your preferred email address, you will first receive an email with instructions to download the app and create an account.
  3. Your transit pass will appear in the Transit Connect app automatically when it is available. You do not need a voucher code. SacRT distributes passes Monday through Friday.

Use Transit Connect

  1. Open the Transit Connect app before you board a bus or train.
  2. Navigate to the home page.
  3. Select your UTP and activate it.
  4. Present your active pass to the bus operator or transit ambassador.

Available Transit Services

The UTP can be used on all RT services – including SacRT Bus, Light Rail, and SmaRT Ride – all semester long. UC Davis Unitrans also accepts UTP. The UTP is valid 24 hours per day, seven days per week, for any purpose. Los Rios students must follow SacRT's abide to ride rules.

RT reserves the right to cancel transfer agreements and exclude transit partners if its future fee reimbursement and cost needs are not met.

Eligibility

Students taking one or more units during the spring or fall semester are eligible for the UTP. All students with summer enrollment, regardless of how many units they take, are eligible for the UTP in the summer semester.

Some students are not eligible for the UTP and therefore are not charged the fee. These students include:

  • Students enrolled in the Regional Public Safety Training Center (RPSTC)
  • Students enrolled in apprenticeship programs
  • Students taking classes on the UC Davis main campus
  • Students studying abroad
  • High school students attending a Los Rios college through dual enrollment or concurrent enrollment
  • Incarcerated students inside correctional facilities
  • Students whose home college is not a Los Rios college but who are enrolled in courses at a Los Rios college through the California Community Colleges Online Education Initiative Course Exchange
