ENGL C1000 Placement
First Semester
Enroll in one of the following:
- ENGL C1000: Academic Reading and Writing (3 units) and ENGWR 108: Accelerated College Writing (3 units)
- ENGL C1000: Academic Reading and Writing (3 units)
- ENGWR 488: Honors College Composition and Research (3 units)
Notes
- These courses satisfy local AA/AS and Cal-GETC 1A requirements.
- If you have previously taken and passed ENGWR 300, you do not need to take ENGL C1000 or ENGWR 488.
Second Semester
Enroll in one of the following:
- ENGWR 301: College Composition and Literature (3 units)
- ENGL C1001: Critical Thinking and Writing (3 units)
- ENGWR 303: Argumentative Writing and Critical Thinking Through Literature1 (4 units)
- ENGL C1001H: Critical Thinking and Writing - Honors (3 units)
Notes
- These courses satisfy AA/AS and Cal-GETC 1B requirements.
- If you have previously taken and passed ENGWR 302/482, you do not need to take ENGL C1001/C1001H.
- 1 Required for the English Associate Degree for Transfer.
ENGWR 108/ENGL C1000 Combo Placement
First Semester
Enroll in both of the following:
- ENGL C1000: Academic Reading and Writing (3 units, a transfer-level writing class)
- ENGWR 108: Accelerated College Writing (3 units, provides the tools and time to succeed in the core transfer-level class).
Notes
- Each ENGWR 108 has its own required section of ENGL C1000.
- ENGL C1000 satisfies local AA/AS and Cal-GETC 1A requirements.
- If you have previously taken and passed ENGWR 300, you do not need to take ENGL C1000.
Second Semester
Enroll in one of the following:
- ENGWR 301: College Composition and Literature (3 units)
- ENGL C1001: Critical Thinking and Writing (3 units)
- ENGWR 303: Argumentative Writing and Critical Thinking Through Literature2 (4 units)
- ENGL C1001H: Critical Thinking and Writing - Honors (3 units)
