Chanda
CHEM 300
MATH 375
Hello! My name is Chanda and I am a first-year here at Sacramento City College. I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering with the goal of transferring to Sacramento State in 2027. I am tutoring for both Chem and Math and I approach tutoring with the mindset of understanding the core concepts, not just doing the problems. Outside of school I'm big into a bunch of acronyms: RPGs, JRPGs, D&D, and currently obsessed with BOTC.

Nawaar
CHEM 300, 400, 401, MATH 400, 401, 402
Hello, everyone! My name is Nawaar Akhtar, and I am a second-year student at Sacramento City College and plan to transfer in Fall 2027. I was a Computer Science major before I fell in love with its applications to healthcare and neuroscience and decided to switch to Cognitive Science! I enjoy inspiring students to find their passion and helping them through any academic obstacles by fostering empathy and making tutees feel safe and supported. If you need help with any of the courses listed above, feel free to make an appointment on Penji or come to the TLC as a drop-in during my hours! My job is to help you understand these concepts better!
Outside of academics, I enjoy traveling (though unfortunately, I don't get a lot of time to anymore), baking, watching football, and reading. I also enjoy music and watching movies. I am a huge Harry Potter and Bridgerton fan, so feel free to share your favorite characters or scenes with me! Or just come in to give me a book or movie recommendation. The TLC is a no-judgment space for your success and comfort! :) When I'm not reading for nostalgia, I'm a lover of mysteries, historical fiction, and classical literature. I love baking, but mainly stick to breads, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, pastries, and the like (things with minimal frosting), because I am terrified of working with frosting! Go 49ers!
Lupita
CHEM 300, 305, 400
Hello, my name is Lupita! I’m in my third year at Sacramento City College, majoring in mechanical engineering, and I plan to transfer in Fall 2027. I enjoy helping others feel more confident with concepts that can seem intimidating at first.
I believe subjects like math and chemistry are often misunderstood—they aren’t “too difficult”; they just take patience, curiosity, and encouragement. You are capable of learning anything you commit yourself to.
I currently tutor CHEM 300, 305, and 400. Outside of school, I care for my eight lovely hens and my cat, Harry. I also enjoy making small dioramas and listening to music. I’m here to help you succeed, and I hope to see you soon!
Nima
MATH 372, 373
Hello! My name is Nima. I’m currently in my second year at Sacramento City College, with plans to transfer to one of the University of California campuses in the future. I have a strong interest in mathematics, computer science, and physics—subjects that challenge me to think critically and strengthen my problem-solving skills.
I enjoy helping others learn concepts that may initially seem difficult, and I like exploring different methods of learning to find what works best for each individual. I currently help with Precalculus (Math 372 and Math 373), and I look forward to seeing you.
Outside of academics, I enjoy watching good movies and documentaries, spending time in nature, and practicing meditation. These activities help me stay balanced, focused, and inspired.
