My name is Dana Armstrong, and I am the faculty coordinator of the West Sacramento Writing Center. My education began at Modesto Junior College where I took advantage of several work- and study-abroad programs. I eventually transferred to U.C. Berkeley where I studied Comparative Literature. After graduating, I lived in Mexico for five months, studying Spanish and traveling around the country. I earned my graduate degree from U.C. Davis and have also taken Composition courses at San Francisco State University. I began my teaching career at Chabot College in Hayward and now have been teaching at Sacramento City College for nearly twenty years.
Angela Davis
Instructional Assistant - Writing Tutor for all subjects and all levels
Hi! My name is Angela Davis, and I am an Instructional Assistant at the Learning Resource Center for the SCC Davis Center. I started working for the Writing Center back in 2008 as a student tutor and eventually became an Instructional Assistant. I tutor all levels of writing for all subjects. I also teach workshops and have worked in classrooms alongside professors. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from CSUS in 2015 with a B.A. in Art Studio. I have never worked so hard in my life, but it was worth it. I am the first person in my family to graduate from college. I have always had a knack for English, and I enjoy helping people learn it. Some random stuff about me: when I am not tutoring, I run a small art business, spend time with my family, and jam on my planner. I also love reading, playing Animal Crossing, playing DND, making kawaii crafts, and I have a huge toy collection.

I'm also a big fan of creating multiple drafts to fine tune a paper and I'm looking forward to assisting y'all in all your writing endeavors!
Chloe Hersek
Writing Tutor - ESL 340, ESL 341, ENGWR all levels, and Writing for all other subjects
Hello everyone! My name is Chloe (she/her/hers) and I am currently an English major at SCC. I have tutored a lot of my peers back in high school through a program known as Leadership, and I am just as excited to get the opportunity to work with all of you! I love to write, specifically poetry, and hope to be published one day. I have been acting since I was four, and I continue to work as a film actress when I can. Creative writing and research are some of my strong suits when tutoring. I am more than happy to talk about your topic and to be there to support you where you need me. Whether we are meeting online or in person, I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and hear your lovely thoughts!
John Yarbrough
Advanced Writing Tutor
Hi all! My name is John (he/him/his) and I am currently a fourth-year English major at UC Davis. I have had a love for all things writing and reading for as long as I can remember, and have always believed that where there is a problem, a solution can always be found. Poetry and creative writing are great passions of mine; I self-published my first poetic chapbook in 2023 and am currently writing my second book of poetry. I also have a lot of experience in research and writing about literature. Though, I know not everyone may be as keen on writing papers and reading old literature, and that’s okay! That is why I’m here for all of you, and I will always be more than happy to support you however I can! I look forward to meeting and working with you all!
