Angela Davis
Instructional Assistant
Hi! My name is Angela Davis, and I am an Instructional Assistant at the Learning Resource Center for the SCC Davis Center. I started working for the Writing Center back in 2008 as a student tutor and eventually became an Instructional Assistant. I tutor all levels of writing for all subjects. I also teach workshops and have worked in classrooms alongside professors. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from CSUS in 2015 with a B.A. in Art Studio. I have never worked so hard in my life, but it was worth it. I am the first person in my family to graduate from college. I have always had a knack for English, and I enjoy helping people learn it. Some random stuff about me: when I am not tutoring, I run a small art business, spend time with my family, and jam on my planner. I also love reading, playing Animal Crossing, playing DND, making kawaii crafts, and I have a huge toy collection.

Hello, my name is Jackie! I am part of Sac City’s chemical technology program and have completed my advanced chemical technology certification. I’ve been tutoring for a while in different subjects, but I took a break and only tutor chemistry now. I’m also part of the new chemistry club! I enjoy swimming, going to concerts and trying new food! Good luck studying, feel welcome to drop by and talk about chemistry!
Jenna Kieffer
Chemistry Tutor
Hey everyone! My name is Jenna Kieffer, and I am an SCC student and a Chemistry Tutor for the SCC Davis Center. This is my third year at Sac City, and I am planning on transferring to UC Davis in Fall 2025 for Pharmaceutical Chemistry! In my free time I like to rock climb and do yoga with friends as well as crochet and woodwork. In the two and a half years I have been an SCC student, I’ve taken nearly every chemistry class offered at the Davis Center as well as earned my Intermediate Chemical Technician Certificate and interned in the Davis Center Lab Stockroom. Through this I have been able to discover a love for chemistry, but I also discovered just how insanely difficult the subject can be. It takes a lot of dedication to learn chemistry, and I hope as a tutor I can help you discover how you as a student learn best and teach you some of my strategies for not just learning and passing chemistry but understanding it on a deeper level. Community College has taught me so much through all my mistakes and triumphs. But above all, it has taught me that the hardest things in life are the things that are worth doing the most.
Chloe Hersek
Writing Tutor
Hello everyone! My name is Chloe (she/her/hers) and I am currently an English major at SCC. I have tutored a lot of my peers back in high school through a program known as Leadership, and I am just as excited to get the opportunity to work with all of you! I love to write, specifically poetry, and hope to be published one day. I have been acting since I was four, and I continue to work as a film actress when I can. Creative writing and research are some of my strong suits when tutoring. I am more than happy to talk about your topic and to be there to support you where you need me. Whether we are meeting online or in person, I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and hear your lovely thoughts!

Nahom Tesfay
Writing Tutor
Hi! My name is Nahom Tesfay, and I am a second-year student here at SCC. This will be my first year tutoring at the Davis Center. I wanted to become a tutor because I was once a student who suffered in English and I had always hated it. Through teachers, I eventually got better at it and slowly started feeling a passion for it. I want to play this same role and be able to help students learn and become better writers. Besides all that, I am currently working on transferring and am hoping to transfer into UCLA. I also enjoy watching sports and working out.

Joseph Fry
Instructional Assistant/ Writing Tutor
My name is Joseph Fry and I have been a tutor at the West Sacramento Writing Center since Spring 2023. I graduated from Sacramento City College in 2019 with an associate degree in graphic communication and an associate degree in English. At California State University, Sacramento, I received my bachelor's degree in English in 2022 and am currently finishing up my master's degree in English with a focus on creative writing. I am passionate about writing and helping students achieve their goals and find their voice in their education and leaving them with tools to continue replicating that success in their classrooms and beyond.
