Apply to be a Computer Information Science Tutoring Lab Tutor
The B151 Computer Science Tutoring Lab employs students as peer tutors to conduct tutoring in CIS classes.
We need tutors for:
- Assembly
- C, C++
- Java
- Linux/Windows OS
- Security/Networking
- SQL
- Web Page Development (HTML/CSS)
- MS Office (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Requirements
- Must have completed the class with an “A” or “ B” grade in the subject you wish to tutor.
- Must have completed, at a minimum, CISP 360 if you are applying to be a programming tutor.
- Must have completed, at a minimum, CISW 327 if you are applying to be a Web page development tutor.
- Courses taken at other colleges must be equivalent to the Sacramento City College course in which you wish to tutor.
If Hired
- You must submit the appropriate employment paperwork before beginning to work as a paid tutor.
- You will be required to enroll in LTAT 310 Introduction to Individual Peer Tutoring, before or during the first semester of work as a tutor. A waiver may be granted for successful completion of a tutor education class or for earning an advanced degree.
- Expect to work approximately 6 hours per week.
- You will need to complete the LRCCD online Sexual Harassment Policies & Prevention online training every two years.
- Paid tutors earn minimum wage.
