In SCC's Dual Enrollment program, high school teachers serve as facilitators who focus on helping students learn together as a group.
Facilitator Expectations in the Classroom
High school Dual Enrollment facilitators:
- Oversee large group conversations in which all students can share their thoughts and experiences.
- Guide the conversation to create enjoyable and effective learning for students.
- Help students navigate the dual enrollment environment on Canvas and provide general support in a college class environment.
- Remind students of important administrative details that may impact their eligibility and success in the program.
- Instead of giving lectures or providing hands-on teaching, facilitate the learning process by giving instructions and teaching students how to search for information and gain knowledge independently.
Before You Start as a Facilitator
Before you begin as a Dual Enrollment facilitator, you need to submit a Non-Employee Access Agreement (NEA) to the Los Rios Community College District. Once approved, you will receive a Los Rios ID number and email address, and the SCC instructor for the Dual Enrollment course you are facilitating will add you to the course in Canvas.
