Celebrate disability culture. Build community. Find belonging. Develop pride. Lead change.

The Disability Cultural Center (DCC) is a welcoming space where disabled, Deaf, and neurodivergent students, staff, and faculty build community, celebrate culture, and lead change at Sacramento City College.

The DCC is a campus home for disabled, Deaf, and neurodivergent people and our allies. We host community events, sensory room pop-ups, movie showings, speaker series, peer programs, and trainings to help make SCC more inclusive.

Mission

The DCC fosters belonging, awareness, and leadership by recognizing disability as a valued social and cultural identity on and off campus. We create space for community, celebration, and advocacy—and we help the whole campus become more inclusive.

Who We Serve

Disabled, Deaf, and neurodivergent students, staff, and faculty—and allies who want to learn and partner.

What We Do

  • Cultural programming (celebrations, talks, art, and storytelling)
  • Peer community-building & mentorship
  • Skill‑building workshops for students
  • Professional learning for faculty/staff
  • Campus partnerships to embed disability justice in equity work

Our Approach

We follow disability justice principles such as interdependence, intersectionality, leadership of those most impacted, and collective access. We work with identity centers, student services, and academic programs to weave disability inclusion and culture into campus life.
