Sacramento City College (SCC) is laser-focused on Black student success to support their higher education journey.
Our goal is to:
- ensure successful onboarding of new first-time students
- improve retention and persistence patterns
- close the institutional gaps in completion
- make sure our students know that we care, Black Student Lives Matter to all of us, and we are committed to their journey and success
With that in mind, this site provides all things concerning Black students at SCC and the intentional efforts we are putting forth.

ASHÉ Center
The ASHÉ Center’s efforts focus on promoting cultural, social, physical, and mental development for students of African descent, resulting in the enrichment of the entire community.

We aspire to nurture your intellectual and spiritual growth in a communal space intended to enhance learning that inspires knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.
Pulse Resource Center
A call center created to make interpersonal connections with Black students as well as direct relationships with each SCC program and department.
Celebration of Excellence and Achievement for Students of African Descent
The annual Celebration of Excellence & Achievement for Students of African Descent (COEA) recognizes students who are receiving degrees/certificates and/or transferring to four-year universities.

Black Academy
The purpose of Black Academy is to support the retention and persistence of Black students at SCC while building intentional relationships and community through a summer bridge program.
