Life Fitness Center
The Life Fitness Center (LFC) features exercise equipment for cardiovascular health, strength training, and an aerobic circuit. You must be enrolled in one of the self-paced Open Entry/Open Exit courses to use the facility. Classes are self-paced; meaning you can set your own goals and work through the course curriculum at your own pace!
- FITNS 371 Life Fitness Center Training
- FITNS 372 Life Fitness Center Strength Training
- FITNS 373 Life Fitness Center Functional Fitness Training
- FITNS 374 Life Fitness Center Cross Training
The goal of the Life Fitness Center is to teach students basic fitness concepts and skills related to the improvement of health and wellness through entry level courses. After the successful completion of the basic entry level course Fitness 371, students are encouraged to take other courses - Fitness 372, 373, 374 - in the Life Fitness Program to develop additional fitness skills to meet the individual student needs. With each class, students learn more skills and strategies, building their personal "fitness toolbox".
Check the class schedule for available courses.

The Life Fitness Center offers a series of 4 classes that use an "open entry/open-exit format." This involves offering courses that are self-paced and allows each enrolled student the flexibility to use the LFC during the open lab hours to complete the course curriculum. The LFC is open 6 days a week, Monday thru Saturday, for a total of 36 hours available for the student to achieve their fitness goals.
Students must complete a mandatory program orientation before working out in the Life Fitness Center. The orientation process will be online and information will be sent out prior to the class starting.
Students should be prepared to meet the time commitment for either .5 or 1 unit to maintain course enrollment. Students in a 1-unit class should plan on spending 2 to 4 hours per week engaged in course activity and will need to complete 36 hours throughout the semester. Students in a 0.5 unit class should expect to spend 1 to 2 hours per week engaged in course activity and will need to complete 18 hours.
The LFC has three major areas of focus:
- Cardiovascular:
- recumbent bikes
- treadmills
- elliptical trainers
- stationary bikes
- Strength Training:
- power racks
- dumbbells
- free weights
- power- and Olympic-lifting equipment
- plate-loaded and selectorized equipment for every muscle group
- Aerobic Super Circuit:
- combines selectorized weight training equipment and stationary bikes, to be used in an alternating fashion that results in a full-body workout
Employees and community members are strongly encouraged to use the Life Fitness Center, but must be enrolled in a LFC class in order to use the facility.
