New student orientation gives you important information to help you succeed in college.
Orientation is not a required step for enrolling and attending at SCC. Orientation gives new students a strong start at Sacramento City College by providing planning, support, and guidance. Learn about important forms and tasks you need to complete before you start classes.

Steps for Students Starting Starting Spring 2025
- Apply to SCC
- Submit for FAFSA or Apply for CADAA (CA Dream Act Application)*
- Register for City Jam - New Student Online Orientation
See City Jam Sessions in the table below. - Once you have completed City Jam Orientation, you will get to identify what classes you need for the semester with the following:
- First-time college students: Meet with a Success Coach
- Former Dual Enrollment student and returning students: Meet with a counselor
- Enroll into classes
- Pay tuition or any other fees in your eServices account
(Check for deadlines) - Attend class
City Jam Sessions
We will only be hosting 3 online orientation sessions for Spring 2025 admits. Attendance will be based on first come, first get. We will delete session dates listed below if they are at maximum capacity or as they are completed.

If you’re coming from another college to Sac City, your transcripts will have to be evaluated first before meeting with a counselor.
Steps for Transfer Students
- Apply to SCC
- Submit for FAFSA or Apply for CADAA (CA Dream Act Application)* for the term you are enrolling.
- Submit your official college transcript from your previous college to the Admissions mailing address below (transcripts from Los Rios colleges ARC, CRC, FLC, or SCC won't be needed).
- Self-schedule your appointment with a counselor to create an educational plan (ISEP), the planning of your classes.
- Self-enroll into classes
- Pay tuition or any other fees in your eServices account
- Check for deadlines
- Attend class
