Application Requirements
The Cardiovascular Technologist Program at Sacramento City College leads to a Certificate of Completion in Cardiovascular Technologist and prepares graduates to enter the allied health field as entry-level Cardiovascular Technologists.
The Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) Program admits a maximum of 12 students once per year. Classes start in the fall semester.
Prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better prior to starting the CVT program. All courses must be completed with a grade posted to the transcript at the time of application. Courses passed with a grade of "P" or "CR" will default to a "C" grade. No grade less than a "C" will be accepted.

Check your classes on the CVT Course Equivalency List (PDF) to determine if courses taken at other colleges will count toward prerequisites.
- If you don’t see your course from another institution on the Equivalency List, but believe it should be counted, complete a Course Substitution Petition and be sure to give yourself ample time for processing.
- Course substitution submissions will not be processed if any of the below items are missing:
- Official Transcripts: Your official transcript must already be on file with the SCC Admissions and Records Office.
- A course description / syllabus: Course descriptions give a small description of the course and what they cover, which is required to compare to the courses offered at our college.

Steps to Apply to CVT
Please review the eligibility requirements above carefully. All students must meet Enrollment Eligibility Criteria at the time of application.
- Apply to Sacramento City College
- Complete the Cardiovascular Technologist Application. The application timeline is currently being finalized. However, the first application cycle is expected to begin in the Summer of 2026. Please check back closer to that time for updates.
- Upload unofficial transcripts from all colleges attended
- Upload any approved Course Substitution Petitions with supporting catalog course descriptions
- Upload unofficial transcripts from all colleges attended
- Submission of one official transcript (if you have taken classes outside of the Los Rios Community College District) prior to the application close date.
