Chris Daubert: We Do What We Can: A Retrospective

September 1 to October 15, 2026

Chris Daubert was an esteemed California artist, educator, and curator as well as a revered Art Professor at Sacramento City College. He also served as the Director and Curator for the Kondos Gallery for twelve years. This retrospective exhibition features a curated selection of paintings, drawings, and sculpture completed by Daubert between the 1980s and 2010s.

Gioia Fonda and Charlie Gill: portrait of things

October 9 to November 29, 2026

Interdisciplinary artist Gioia Fonda has long collected colorful toys, both for their intrinsic charm and as creative inspiration. As a student at California College of the Arts, she arranged small collectibles into still-life compositions, captured them on film, and processed the photos at a local drugstore. Captivated by these arrangements, her advisor, Charlie Gill, painted spare compositions based on her photographs—works that now hang alongside hers.

Gladys Nillson: Gleefully Askew; Retrospective

July 19 to November 29, 2026

Born in Chicago in 1940, Gladys Nilsson is best known for her watercolors of long-limbed figures engaged in everyday micro-dramas. Nilsson’s self-reflexive approach has guided her experimental practice, which also includes Plexiglas paintings, largescale diptychs, embroidery-hoop paintings, drawings, prints, and mixed-media collages.
