About the Gallery

Founded by the art department chair John Matthew in the 1930s as the “Little Gallery,” the gallery was originally tucked into a small space in the old library building and exhibited works by faculty, students and local artists. In the mid 1970s, faculty member and noted painter Gregory Kondos became director of the gallery and associated programs. In 1982 after the completion of several modernization projects, Gregory Kondos retired and the “Little Gallery” was renamed in his honor. In 1997, art faculty member and multi-media artist Chris Daubert became director and helped secure the gallery’s 2009 remodel. The Kondos Gallery reopened in the Fall of 2010, maintaining its traditions while moving forward into the twenty-first century.

Parking for Community Members

There is no designated parking for the Kondos Gallery. Community members may park in non-staff spaces with a daily permit, dispensed at machines on site ($2). The main parking area is accessible off 12th Avenue, from Freeport Boulevard. The gallery is located on the northeast side of campus, near the main parking area and the College Store. Please see the campus map to plan your visit.
