Supporting Our International Students

July 15 - Update

Last week, we shared the U.S. Government, Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), had updated immigration regulations and ended the temporary exemption allowing F1 students to remain in the country while taking fully online classes. Fortunately, today the U.S. Government rescinded that policy change in the face of legal action from colleges and universities in California and around the country challenging the decision. This means that our international students will not have their immigration status revoked for taking classes online in the Fall.

This is very welcome news, and a relief for many of our students. At the same time, we know it is possible that the U.S. Government will continue to pursue this policy change in the near future. We will remain vigilant in supporting our students and will continue to provide additional information as soon as it is available.

We are deeply concerned for our international students and the impact that the recent decision from the federal government may have. International students are a vibrant part of our campus community and we are committed to supporting and advocating on their behalf. While we do not yet have many details, we are already working on options to support our international students and protect their ability to continue their education at our college. We have communicated directly with our impacted students to share information about their options based on what we know and will continue to share important updates as they become available.
