Eligibility Updates
Ethnic Studies
Posted 5/28/2025
The dental hygiene program needs to make a change to the enrollment eligibility requirements in response to AB 928. This assembly bill was designed to streamline the process by which California community college students may transfer to a four-year university. Our enrollment eligibility (Program Prerequisite) for cultural diversity will change from the Ethnic/Multicultural graduation requirement to the new Ethnic Studies graduation requirement. Implementation of this change starts Fall semester 2025 and will be in place at the time of our next application period October 1, 2025 - April 1, 2026.
The LRCCD Ethnic Studies courses include: ETHNS 300: Introduction to Ethnic Studies, ETHNS 320: Introduction to African American Studies, ETHNS 330: Introduction to Asian American Studies, ETHNS 350: Introduction to Native American Studies, ETHNS 360: Introduction to Chicana/o/x Studies.
Students may choose to follow their catalog rights for prerequisites to the program, or they may choose to follow the prerequisites to the program listed at time of entry. If you plan to use catalog rights and meet eligibility with the Ethnic/Multicultural graduation requirement you will need an "AA/AS General Education Requirements" form completed by a LRCCD counselor verifying your catalog year prior to 2025-2026. If you already have an "AA/AS General Education Requirements" form completed and it is missing the catalog year you will need to have a new form completed to upload into your 2025-2026 program application.

- 7-year recency on science courses:
- BIOL 430 and 431, Anatomy and Physiology
- BIOL 440, General Microbiology
