Community Health Care Worker Program Details

Community Healthcare Workers (CHWs) are frontline public health professionals. They assist others to increase their health knowledge and gain independence.  

CHWs typically have deep roots within the communities they serve. As a result, they help others gain access to health care, government, and social services they need for an improved quality of life.

CHWs are involved in a wide range of activities like community outreach, community education, informal counseling, and social support. 

Apply to CHW Program

Steps to Apply to CHW

1. Apply to SCC. Apply to Sacramento City College and obtain a student W-ID#.
2. Review the CHW certificate requirements.
3. Course Substitutions. Submit a Course Substitution Petition for any classes taken outside the Los Rios Community College District that you feel satisfy a CHW certificate requirement.
4. Apply to CHW. Complete the Community Health Care Worker Application.
