Resources for High Schools Seeking Articulation Agreements
- Initiate communication between the high school and college. Contact SCC’s AVP of Workforce and Economic Development: Dr. Cynthia Sommer, sommerc@scc.losrios.edu, for assistance determining course eligibility for articulation.
- The SCC AVP of Workforce and Economic Development will send the request to draft an articulation agreement to the following:
- SCC Faculty Member
- SCC Department Chair
- SCC Department Deans
- SCC Articulation Officer
- The SCC Articulation Officer, after consulting with the relevant department, will send the high school instructor the SCC-approved course outline and inform the SCC instructional dean, department chair, relevant faculty, and the SCC AVP of Workforce and Economic Development.
- The high school/ROP teacher and SCC college faculty collaborate and compare the SCC official course outline and high school district course outline and competencies to determine if completion of the high school/ROP course with an A or B adequately measures mastery of SCC course content. The high school course must closely approximate the college’s in curriculum, course content, student learning outcomes, textbooks, and assessments. A visit to the high school classroom may be advisable.
SCC discipline faculty are ultimately responsible for ensuring the integrity of SCC curriculum. - The SCC faculty member signing the agreement provides the high school instructor with the final exam or assessment; alternately, the SCC faculty member approves the final exam or assessment developed by the high school instructor.
- The high school teacher and SCC faculty member will work together to complete the High School Course Articulation Agreement form, and it must be signed by the high school teacher and administrator. Submit completed forms to the AVP of Workforce and Economic Development as a packet:
- Current high school district CTE Course Outline/Course of Study with district code numbers and date of approval or date of approved revisions
Note: Where applicable, SCC will accept the UC Doorways approved a-g curriculum in lieu of the high school CTE course of study - Copy of SCC-approved high school final exam or assessment
- SCC Course of Record for the comparable course (provided at SCC)
- Completed High School Course Articulation Agreement
- Current high school district CTE Course Outline/Course of Study with district code numbers and date of approval or date of approved revisions
- Documents should be mailed to:
Sacramento City College
AVP of Workforce and Economic Development
Instruction Office
3835 Freeport Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95822 - The articulation packet will be reviewed and the High School Course Articulation Agreement will be forwarded for signature at SCC.
Once approved by the Curriculum Committee, the AVP of Workforce and Economic Development will notify the high school and all interested parties. A copy will be sent to the high school, and the SCC website will be updated to reflect the approved and active articulation agreements. - The articulation agreement is valid for two academic years from the semester in which it takes effect, unless the course of study or course of record changes. The college or high school can request a course review at any time or cancel the agreement should courses no longer be aligned. It is the responsibility of both instructors to notify one another of any relevant changes.
These are dynamic forms that may not open correctly in your browser. Please right-click the link and save the link to your device. then you can open the file in Adobe Acrobat DC.
