Honors

Overview Degrees/Certificates

The Honors certificate involves five Honors classes, completed with a C or better, at SCC, and some may be taken at other Los Rios campuses. The Honors certificate gives students a notation on their transcript that they achieved this milestone. Students pursuing the Honors certificate are encouraged to join the SCC Honors Program .

Honors classes are smaller in size (15-20 students), interdisciplinary, include a research or community service project, satisfy GE requirements, and are CSU/UC transferable.

There is no application or requirements to take Honors classes at SCC. Simply enroll.

Certificate of Achievement

Honors Certificate

Students who have completed at least 15 units of approved Honors coursework earn a Certificate of Achievement noted on the transcript.

Students may also join The Sacramento City College (SCC) Honors Program, a community of students and faculty who are dedicated to the pursuit of intellectual and personal enrichment in a diverse and challenging academic environment. There are many benefits to being an active member of the program. Completion of the program with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or better allows students to take advantage of transfer agreements with highly selective colleges and universities through the Honors Transfer Council of California and to participate in the Transfer Alliance Program at UCLA. Honors students must meet with a counselor to ensure completion of SCC graduation and/or transfer requirements. In addition, Honors students must meet at least once with an Honors Faculty Coordinator to ensure completion of the Honors certificate in a timely fashion.
