ARC Theatre Presents: Wedding BandFriday, February 20, 7:30 to 9:30 pm
Set in 1918 South Carolina, Wedding Band is a searing and powerful masterpiece about the secret romance between Julia, a Black seamstress, and Herman, a white baker. When it first premiered in the 1960s, the play was deemed too controversial because it crossed boundaries and broke taboos with its depiction of an interracial love affair. yet the play endured, not only because its message is so needed, but also because its characters are not idealized human beings; they are the imperfect men and women of a real world.
